Island by jamesholephoto Island by jamesholephoto
A view from Birling Carrs at Warkworth, Northumberland looking towards Coquet Island.

This was a long exposure of four minutes making the sea appear all ghostly and calm, the sun was rising just to the right of the lighthouse, perfect!

:giggle: This is a bit of a typical sunrise around here, I do like a nice blue sky but I like that the dark clouds add a bit of drama to this! Thanks for your comment Vanessa :D

stunning image James... really nicely balanced composition, great sky and picture perfect timing with the sun peeping over the horizon by the striking silhouette of the lighthouse

What a cracker! Excellent composition. One to be proud of. Not easy to judge the correct exposure as the sun is rising. The sun just coming up is the icing on the cake. You didn't even have to get up too early - but, boy, did you get your timing right. I haven't yet come up with any improvements you could have made to the photo but if I think of some I'll let you know - maybe the colour is not quite right... only joking. haha. :)

Great comment Malcolm, really glad you like it, its good to start the new year with a decent photo! It felt a bit strange being able to get up so late and still photograph the sunrise! :) Hope your well!
